Description
The Santa Senior Program is a registered government charity has been providing Christmas gifts to seniors in need residing in nursing homes and the community in the Greater Hamilton area for over 35 years. In most cases, the seniors do not have family or friends and spend the Christmas Season alone.
This program has made a huge impact in our community. Some feedback we received from seniors and agencies include “Thank you for making my Christmas special”, “It brings such joy to our seniors to know they are thought of and not forgotten and that they are important to us and our community”, “the blouse fit me exactly and when I found the Temptations I could have cried. You remembered my cats and they love Temptations” and “I hope one day I can return the kind gesture some way. Certainly if I win the lottery you’ll be first on my list”.
This annual program collaborates with local senior services such as VON, Meals on Wheels, St. Joseph’s Home Care and Hamilton Public Health Services to provide gifts to our needy seniors and is administered by a core group of volunteers – Bev deBeer, Pat DeMaria, Janet Flett, Jennifer Jewitt-Matsumoto, Gale Zizzo and the staff of the Hamilton Academy of Medicine. If you or anyone you know are interested to join our great volunteers, please contact any one of them or the Hamilton Academy office.
All donations are tax-deductible.
Many thanks to all past and future donors. Without your generous donations this program could not be possible. Thank you for brightening the lives of seniors in our community.
